{"id":317,"date":"2020-11-17T11:44:11","date_gmt":"2020-11-17T16:44:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/marshasummers.com\/wordpress\/?p=317"},"modified":"2020-11-17T11:44:11","modified_gmt":"2020-11-17T16:44:11","slug":"definition-of-consciousness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/marshasummers.com\/wordpress\/?p=317","title":{"rendered":"Definition of Consciousness"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>(From: Chaos to Order\u2014School Talk #50)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this workshop Dr. Bob says:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A real teaching creates order from disorder by awakening a conscious and objective awareness.\u00a0 Now those are adjectives\u2026<strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Conscious means you know what your doing and you\u2019re doing it at the time.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is objective, which means you see everything without relating it to \u201cself\u201d and without judging it as \u201cgood or bad\u201d or \u201cright or wrong\u201d according to your taste &#8212; you know all these opposite adjectives like right, wrong, good, bad, pretty and ugly are all subjective and are judgments.\u00a0 These opposites are all based on the subjective feeling within me like \u00a0\u201cHow does this affect me.\u201d\u00a0 It\u2019s about \u201cthe feeling it gives me\u201d; but it really has nothing to do with the person, thing or event that is going on.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is more worthwhile to use<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 descriptive adjectives.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That can be an interesting challenge.\u00a0 So all adjectives that are non-descriptive, to me, are really non-adjectives.\u00a0 That is to say that non-descriptive are not objective&#8211;they can\u2019t be objective because they only relate to how I feel about the thing\u2026\u2026\u2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[From Marsha: So I asked myself what would be some objective adjectives and\/or descriptive adjectives?\u00a0 Pretty challenging, I must admit\u2026\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u201cgood\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Subjective relating to my taste of\u00a0 \u201cgood\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0I ate too much of the chocolate cake she made because it was delicious; and now I feel fat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Descriptive &#8211; She made a chocolate cake with chocolate icing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cbad\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Subjective: \u201cbad\u201d You were a bad boy for pushing your sister down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Descriptive \u2013 There are a couple ways to get by your sister.\u00a0 Ask her to move or go around her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cbad\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Subjective: What a crappy day \u2013 rain and wind. I\u2019m so depressed!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Descriptive: Today we have rain. The temperature is 76; and it is cloudy and rainy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0&#8220;ugly&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Subjective:\u00a0 I felt embarrassed when I found out that I was about to go out of the house with a dirty blouse because people might laugh at me or peg me as \u201cwhite trash.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Descriptive: &#8211; He said I had some kind of food staining my blouse and proceeded to get a wet cloth to wipe out the stain. \u00a0I thanked him since I can\u2019t see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cpretty\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Subjective: I have a really pretty dress I\u2019ll loan you for the prom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Descriptive: I have a long red gown with a white bodice that will compliment the corsage you are receiving for the prom.\u00a0 Come, I\u2019ll show you to see if you would like to borrow it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Subjective: If you had done the \u201cright\u201d thing and not gone off and spent your paycheck on frivolous stuff just on an impulse, you wouldn\u2019t be in this financial crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cright\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Descriptive: I hear you saying that you\u2019ve run out of cash. What\u2019s going on? How did that happen? What might you do differently in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cwrong\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Subjective: He should have known better because I\u2019ve told him time and time again not to put white and black clothes together in the washer; but he still does it. Is he stupid or what?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Descriptive \u2013 He put the white clothes and dark clothes together into the washer; but thankfully, they came out with their original colors. <strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Well this is an attempt. I think it\u2019s a work in progress. I did find that when I became emotional today that I was able to work with descriptive adjectives and not holler.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I do see that in most of the subjective ones that I was wanting to give an opinion of my personal taste or what I have accepted as right or wrong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Bob says there is no \u201cright or wrong\u201d,\u00a0 \u201cgood or bad\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He talks about thinking in opposites whereas it is more accurate to talk in degrees \u2013 it\u2019s not hot &#8212; instead, the temperature is 90 degrees.\u00a0 It\u2019s not cold, the temperature is 24 degrees.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From the Dictionary consciousness<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NOUN<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>the state of being awake and aware of one&#8217;s surroundings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>the awareness or perception of something by a person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>the fact of awareness by the mind of itself and the world.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(From: Chaos to Order\u2014School Talk #50) In this workshop Dr. Bob says: A real teaching creates order from disorder by awakening a conscious and objective awareness.\u00a0 Now those are adjectives\u2026.
