{"id":220,"date":"2018-03-05T12:13:05","date_gmt":"2018-03-05T17:13:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/marshasummers.com\/wordpress\/?p=220"},"modified":"2018-03-05T12:13:05","modified_gmt":"2018-03-05T17:13:05","slug":"non-disturbance-vs-peaceful","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/marshasummers.com\/wordpress\/?p=220","title":{"rendered":"Non-disturbance vs Peaceful"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Do these two words sound like the same thing?<\/p>\n<p>It can be enlightening to check out the four dual basic urges and observe self throughout the day.<\/p>\n<p>The teaching speaks of wanting non-disturbance.\u00a0 In other words we do and say things to GET non-disturbance.<\/p>\n<p>Just what is non-disturbance; and what are we trying to GET?\u00a0\u00a0 There is an outline of the four dual basic urges on the webpage \u2013 See under \u201cIllustrations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On the physical level we unconsciously try to gain comfort and pleasure and escape pain or discomfort<\/p>\n<p>On a mental level we unconsciously try to gain attention and escape being ignored or rejected.<\/p>\n<p>On an emotional level we unconsciously try to gain approval and escape disapproval.<\/p>\n<p>And the fourth level is referred to by different names &#8212; \u00a0sometimes spiritual, sometimes transcendental; but we unconsciously try to gain a feeling of being needed or importance and try to escape a feeling of inferiority or insignificance.<\/p>\n<p>In \u201cThe Place of Language\u201d of the teachings, (also on my website) peace is defined as an \u201cabsence of competition.\u201d\u00a0 I\u2019ve also heard it defined as \u201cnot wanting to change anything\u201d.\u00a0 So if I\u2019m peaceful, it is a \u201cstate of being\u201d rather than trying to GET non-disturbance.<\/p>\n<p>I AM peaceful, but sometimes I go to sleep and seek non-disturbance \u2013 i.e. gain comfort, attention, approval, being needed; and escape pain, ignored, disapproval and insignificance.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Do these two words sound like the same thing?
